Cedarcrest Church is Special Needs Certified

April 3, 2015 – Acworth, GA. – We’re excited to announce that Cedarcrest Church in Acworth, GA has become the first church in the country to become Special Needs Certified!

Leaders of the church’s Blossom Special Needs Ministry and other church volunteers recently completed SNC’s online training, so they can better minister to people with special needs.

“Volunteers who before were not a part of our Blossom Ministry are now excited to be involved in a way that provides them with knowledge and language to minister to each and every family that walks through our doors on Sunday morning,” says Courtney Miller, who leads the Blossom ministry.

After learning 80% of families with special needs stop attending church, Lindsey L. Turner, President of Special Needs Communities realized the importance for churches to have a special needs ministry.  “It is our goal to connect churches that have an established special needs ministry to families who desire to find a blossomchurch in their community,” said Turner.  The training provides vital tips to help churches reach out to this underserved population.

“Special Needs Communities has given our greeters, children’s ministry volunteers, and Blossom Special Needs Ministry leaders the confidence to further support and encourage the families we minister to here at Cedarcrest Church,” says Miller. “We are better prepared to help children and families with special needs to find love and growth.”

Miller says she’s thankful that Special Needs Communities is providing an incredible tool to help Cedarcrest Church spread the love of Christ.
